PTSD Justice Reform
Veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, or MST are overrepresented in the criminal justice system. Nevada lacks uniform screening or diversion requirements. We’re working to change that.
We support legislation to:
- Require PTSD screening at arraignment
- Automatically refer qualifying cases to Veterans Court
- Recognize PTSD as a mitigating sentencing factor
- Expand Veterans Court access to every Nevada district

Our Mission
The PTSD Justice Project is a Nevada-based nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and advocating for veterans and trauma survivors—particularly those diagnosed with PTSD—who become involved in the criminal justice system.
We pursue a three-part mission:
Advocacy and Legal Reform
We work to change state and federal law to mandate trauma screening, PTSD-specific diversion, and access to Veterans Treatment Courts in all jurisdictions.
Direct Legal Representation and Support Services
We provide legal assistance and representation to veterans and trauma survivors with PTSD, especially women veterans and MST survivors.
Education and Awareness
Through public education and legislative testimony, we raise awareness of PTSD’s deep impact on behavior, family dynamics, and justice involvement.
